The practice of medicine can be pretty complicated. Then add in a variety of departments at a hospital and you go from complicated to downright overwhelming. Stir in the practice being new and you get the reason Ann Allison has been named practice manager for Wayne Hospital-employed physicians.

“I serve as a liaison between our employed physician practices and the hospital,” she said. “Both sides can contact me to make sure that what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, gets done.”

Allison said she is working most heavily right now with Western Ohio OB/GYN and its two physicians – Dr. Peter Lachiewicz and Dr. Patrick Karr.

“I’ve been very busy getting their practice set up and running smoothly. Mike Pressnall (Wayne Hospital’s Director of Medical Staff and Community Relations) is helping me out a lot with the other practices,” she said.

Those other practices are Dr. Ali Shan Idris in New Madison, and Dr. Joe Lisanti, Dr. Jerome Leahey and Dr. Susan Pyle all in the Union City Medical Office Building.

“Dr. Lachiewicz and Dr. Karr have just moved into their newly remodeled offices at 820 Central Avenue and I believe things there are running very smoothly right now,” Allison said.

“I spend a lot of time working with all the departments in the Hospital making sure they understand what to expect from our employed physicians,” she said. “I speak on a very regular basis with Special Beginnings – the Hospital’s Birthing Center to make sure they know the number of women who are expecting in a certain time frame.”

The Hospital schedules nursing weeks in advance and the growing Western Ohio OB/GYN practice has helped make Allison’s position with the Hospital vital.

She started as practice manager January 5th and she says she hasn’t had a spare moment since.

Her varied and extensive background in the medical field seemed to make her a good fit for the position.

“I’ve worked in a family practice setting, with an ENT (Ear Nose Throat) and a gastroenterologist as well as in the hospital and a nursing home. I have a well-rounded background and I feel like that experience has helped me in this position,” she said.

A lifelong Greenville resident, Allison also works with the physician offices in helping hire staff for the practices.

Allison and her husband, Rick, have one son, Parker.
