Emergency Center

In the case of a medical emergency, there is no substitute for timely, first-rate care. Because it serves such a vital role in the community, the Wayne HealthCare Emergency Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with dedicated, highly skilled physicians and nurses who are specially trained to respond to medical emergencies and potentially life threatening situations. Our new facility offers 12,000 square feet of treatment space, filled with state-of-the-art equipment and amenities, to provide life-saving and immediate-need treatment, as well as care for non-threatening conditions when required.

Although patient safety and comfort are important at all times in healthcare, they can be especially helpful in emergency situations. When patients are taken to an ER, they are likely to be panicked or anxious with worry about whatever health event they are facing. In these situations, anything that can be done to soothe and calm patients, so they can focus on healing, is a valuable asset. This is why the Emergency Center at Wayne HealthCare is fully outfitted with processes and features to enhance patient convenience and lessen their stress. Bedside registration, double physician coverage during peak periods, increased security, and access to 19 monitored, private patient care areas—complete with TVs, phones, doors, and self-locking storage units—are some of the ways we ensure that our patients receive the attention and care they need in a safe, comfortable environment.

Urgent Care

Our emergency services are designed to meet any and all medical or surgical situations that may arise. EMS personnel are able to communicate with our physician and hospital staff prior to your actual arrival, so that arrangements can be made in advance to accommodate patient needs. In an emergency, if at all possible, it's recommended that patients first contact their personal physician to be aware of any prescribed medications and allergies.

Non-Urgent Care

Non-urgent care can be administered through our Emergency Center, however care could be delayed as Urgent Care patients take priority. We encourage patients with non-emergency conditions to consult their personal physician because the cost to you for emergency room care is high. These additional costs are due to the specialized equipment, medical technology, and highly skilled personnel required to effectively manage its operations.

Consent for Treatment

For emergencies involving children under 18, parents must be present to authorize treatment, or must have a completed consent for treatment on-hand with the child's care provider (see Emergency Center for a copy).
