Hospital Value Index Award
Wayne HealthCare is a big winner in the Hospital Value Index Award for 2010.
“The Best in Value award recognizes the top 25% (quartile) of hospitals as ranked by the Hospital Value Index,” according to Wayne Deschambeau, President/CEO of the Hospital. “It is designed to use only objective, verifiable and quantitative data consistent and complete across the United States, ensuring objective measurement, rather than anecdotal evidence.”
“The Hospital Value Index™ Award is the first comprehensive index to compare the value of care that hospitals provide,” he added.
The 2009-2010 Hospital Value Index™ analyzed more than 4,500 general acute-care hospitals to offer the most comprehensive picture to date of a hospital’s value by measuring its success in the following key areas:
- Quality, including CMS’s (Medicare) Core Measures, patient safety, mortality and readmission rates;
- Affordability, a relative comparison of prices charged for inpatient and outpatient services,
- Efficiency, including the relative measure of the cost to the hospital for providing services; and
- Patient Satisfaction as measured by HCAHPS.
Wayne HealthCare is one of the country’s Top 25 percent of Hospitals using this data.
“We set as a goal for the Hospital to be the top rural hospital in America,” Deschambeau said. “We are quickly moving toward our goal. This honor recognizes our staff and physicians who care deeply for our patients and the personal care we’ve been known for.”
“Our new building doesn’t even factor into this award, so we’re really excited about the improvements we’ve been making over the past several years,” he said. “This award recognizes what our patients think of us as well as our quality and our affordability.”
