Wayne Hospital Art Gallery Open

A view of the Art Gallery at Wayne Hospital
Wayne Hospital has now sold 19 pieces of art from its Gallery!
Wayne Hospital wants to give area artists another avenue to display their work to the public. The Hospital will be opening an art gallery with the hope that artists - both professional and amateur - will be able to display, according to Ken Kurz, community relations specialist at the Hospital.
"We're opening the Gallery to all artists in Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Mercer, Auglaize, and Shelby counties in Ohio and Randolph, Jay, and Wayne counties in Indiana," he said.
He added, "the Gallery will be a rotating exhibit with new exhibits hung each March, July, and November. Deadlines for entries for each rotation will be the last day of January, May, and August, respectively." Also, no more than two (2) pieces will be hung from any one artist in each show, he said. There is no entry fee to exhibit in the Gallery.
Because of space constraints, Kurz said only hanging art will be able to be displayed at the Hospital at the present time and the two-dimensional art must be framed, ready to hang with no saw-toothed or stapled wire hangers. All art work must be dry.
All art may be eligible for sale at the discretion of the artist. Any art displayed in the Wayne Hospital Art Gallery and sold during its exhibition will be subject to a 25 % commission paid to the Hospital. According to Kurz, all work must be original by the exhibitor and must not exceed 36"x36" with a minimum frame size of 5x7. Work accepted will be painting, drawing, pastel, textile, mixed media, and photography.
"We've required that all entries accepted for display must remain on display for the duration of the show unless sold so there is some continuity in the display," Kurz said.
"This will be a juried display so we can maintain a high quality exhibit," he added. Kurz said all entries must be submitted to Wayne Hospital via photographs for jury purposes.
Anyone needing additional information should contact Kurz at (937) 547-5959 during normal business hours. "We have an agreement artists will sign that explains the details of how the Gallery will operate," he said. "We just want everyone to benefit from the Gallery - the artist, our patients, our employees, and visitors to the Hospital."
